Madonna University’s ESL program offers English as a second language classes ranging from beginning to advanced levels in the four skill areas i.e., listening/speaking reading, writing and grammar. All are courses designated “English for Academic Purposes”, to enable students to succeed in their concurrent or consecutive academic pursuits. Madonna University’s ESL classes are unique in that the majority of them, up to 24 semester hours, count toward a student’s baccalaureate degree. Moreover, minimum TOEFL or MELAB scores are not required as in many other institutions, if students take the Madonna University English placement test. Non-matriculated ESL students who wish to improve their English language skills may enroll for continuing education credit. The English as a Second Language program at Madonna University is deeply committed to providing comprehensive instruction in all aspects of academic English for non-native speakers. It is our belief that the international students at Madonna University are not simply students, but individuals with considerable value to both the academic and non-academic communities. With this vision, we seek to cultivate in our students the skills necessary to bring their unique perspectives and abilities to all facets of society. The Dr. Robert and Monika Kimball ESL Endowed ESL Scholarship
