The criminal justice program aims to develop an understanding of the social environment, an awareness of social problems and their implications, and a critical approach to living in society. It also provides the student with the ability to generalize, to make discriminating judgments, and to base responses in a given situation upon an understanding of the broader context of an individual’s role. Since the inception of the criminal justice program in 1972, over 2,100 students have gone through the program, and of that number, more than 75 of them have achieved the position of chief or director of their respective law enforcement agency.
